Food Coma: Feeling Tired After Overeating?

This is a common problem, know all about it a day before. If you’re feeling sleepy after overeating, you’re not alone. This condition is called a food coma and is normal. In medical jargon, it is also known as postprandial somnolence. Let us know all about it.

What is feeding coma? In a food coma, a person experiences drowsiness and fatigue after a large meal. Most people get their symptoms after lunch.

Common symptoms of food coma are insomnia, fatigue, laziness, low energy, inability to concentrate. Although the term coma is used in this situation, it cannot be considered a severe coma. A person does not go insane with this.

Cause of the food coma

Not much research has been done on the food coma. However, many theories about the reasons are still debated. Changes in blood flow: It is believed that due to increased blood flow to the stomach, less blood reaches the brain, which can lead to food coma. But scientists have questioned this theory. They say that if the brain can maintain a steady flow of blood throughout the body under heavy exertion, then no such change in the process of eating is possible.

Food coma from overeating: Most people only complain of food coma after a heavy meal. Many studies have found that people who overeat get more sleep after eating. High amounts of carbohydrates, fats, proteins: These nutrients trigger sleep. Drink lots of water. Keeping the body hydrated does not cause much fatigue.
Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily. If sleep is hindering your work, take a half-hour nap. This will make you feel fresh.
