Instagram Introduces New Safety Tools for Parents in the US

Instagram introduces new safety tools for parents in the US Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram has announced new safety tools for parental controls on young users in the US.

Parents, tech watchdogs and lawmakers have long urged the company to take more measures to keep teens safe on Instagram, TechCrunch reports. In view of this, the company has introduced new equipment. The company invites anyone over the age of 13 to signup to use these tools.

What Meta has to offer is what it calls the Family Center. It is a centralized hub of security tools that parents will be able to control. They will be able to decide what children can see and do in the company’s app. The company has started this feature with Instagram.

The new set of supervision features bring parents and guardians significant transparency in young users’ use of Instagram.

The new tools will allow parents to monitor how much time a child spends on the app. Parents will stay updated about the accounts the kids have recently followed and who has followed them. They will also be able to find information about any accounts they have reported.

The devices are rolling out to Instagram in the US and will be available on Meta’s VR platform in May. The rest of Meta’s apps will also be rolling out to everyone, including global users, in the coming months.
