Mobile Radiation damages not only the Eyes but also the Skin
Blue light can damage our Eyes and Skin
We are all surrounded by electronic devices like mobile phones, computers and laptops these days, which emit blue light, but do we know what exactly is radiation? And what harm does it do to the skin?
It’s safe to say that most of us spend a lot of our time staring at screens. And that can be bad for our eyes. Blue light from electronics has been linked to problems such as blurred vision, eyestrain, dry eye, macular degeneration and cataracts. Some people have trouble sleeping. Here’s what you need to know. What is blue light? It is one of several colors in the visible light spectrum. The others are:Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. You may know them by the acronym ROY G BIV. Together they create the white light you see when the sun – the main source of blue light – is shining. Fluorescent and LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs also emit blue light. Each color in the visible light spectrum has a different wavelength and energy level. Blue light has shorter wavelengths and higher energy than other colors.
Some research shows a link between eye damage and short-wavelength blue light with wavelengths between 415 and 455 nanometers. Most of the light from the LEDs used in smartphones, TVs and tablets has wavelengths between 400 and 490 nanometers. Blue light and your eyes In large amounts, high-energy light from the sun — like ultraviolet rays and blue light — can boost your risk of eye disease. That has raised concerns about whether blue light from digital screens is harmful. Further research is required. Experts estimate that around 50% of computer users are affected by digital eye strain or computer vision syndrome.
Radiation emitted from all electronic devices causes skin damages too.
Skin discoloration: Radiation emitted from all electronic devices penetrates the skin causing itching and dryness, turning the skin red or black, discolors the skin.
Premature Aging: Radiation from electronic devices or the sun creates tanning beds on our skin. Excess exposure to UV rays damages the inner layer of tissues, hence the radiation makes us prematurely aged.
Breakouts: When our skin dislikes the environment around us it shows it in different ways. Breakout is one of the common problems seen due to environment.
Skin Pigmentation: All types of skin damage caused by radiation and blue light is called skin pigmentation, which is the most irritating condition of the skin. Skin pigmentation is a condition where dark spots form all over the skin.
Skin Sensitivity: As we age, the sensitivity of the skin also increases. It damages our skin permanently. The skin sometimes turns red or completely dry. The more sensitive the skin, the less likely it is to fight off harmful airborne particles.
- Drink more water, but protect yourself from water-borne radiation.
- Wash your face regularly and splash water in your eyes to wash away harmful radiation.
- Use a face cream with moisturizer to protect the skin from radiation.
- Keep your phone away from your skin while sleeping.
