Carl Pei regrets and anticipates the release of Android 13 for Nothing Phone (1)
A few days ago Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing, revealed that users of his first smartphone, the Phone (1), should not be worried about the arrival of Android 13 for their device. This is because, according to the former CEO of Oneplus, the good experience that your smartphone offers is much more important than the version number of the Android operating system.
Thus, according to Pei’s words, users would have to have a lot of patience for the arrival of Android 13 for Nothing Phone (1), suggesting that this would hardly happen before the end of the first half of 2023… that is, 2 months from the release of Android 14.
As you can imagine, the community didn’t find much of a joke at the company’s CEO’s statements, and began to “rain criticism”. Using various means at their disposal, users quickly made themselves heard, claiming that they felt cheated by the brand.
Fortunately Carl Pei heard and did not like the criticism and used his account on the social network Twitter to reveal that: “While we work 24 hours a day, we are not going to rush the release of updates at the expense of the user experience. This also applies to Nothing OS based on Android 13, so we aim to release a beta version by the end of the year, with a stable in early 2023.
In other words, Nothing decided to bring forward the launch of Android 13 for the Phone (1) by almost 6 months, since the release date of the stable version passed from the end of the semester to the beginning of the year. In addition, it has been confirmed that beta tests start closer to the end of the year.
