Dell closes all its activities in Russia
Dell has taken the decision to terminate all its activities in Russia. The group announced that it closed its offices in that country in mid-August. Thus, it joins other (technology) companies that followed the same path after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The IT company had already suspended sales in Ukraine and Russia last February, saying it was analyzing the situation before deciding what to do next. “In mid-August, we closed our offices and ended all operations in Russia,” Dell spokesman Mike Siemienas told Reuters. Dell permanently leaves Russia dell As Dell is a major server infrastructure provider in Russia, this decision could have a huge impact in that country.
Russian media also reported that the company is considering leaving the country and laying off all its employees.
However, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Vasily Shpak tried to play down this concern by saying that most of the group’s current engineers already have new jobs at Russian tech companies: We are monitoring the development of the situation.
According to our data, the vast majority of Dell R&D center specialists and support engineers in St. Petersburg and Moscow have already received competitive salary job offers from Russian producers.
