Microsoft testing display ads on Windows 11

Microsoft could lower the price of computers by lowering the price of the licenses of its operating system, and for that, it could include some ads in it. Microsoft seems to seriously consider this hypothesis, and the proof of this is that some ads and pop-ups were identified in previous versions of Windows 11.

It seems that the Microsoft is testing, with the latest preview versions, a series of changes, including the introduction of ads and pop-ups in the taskbar. These are specific notices related to the Microsoft account and One Drive.

Once the Start menu is opened and the profile icon clicked, the user can see recommendations like “Back up your files”, “Sign up for a Microsoft account” and “Complete your profile”.

The company justified the introduction of the above as a help for less experienced users, it is a pity that these tips are displayed along with the buttons that allow specific actions, such as logging out of the account or changing the settings of the latter.

Microsoft is currently testing the display of ads (because they are mostly ads, aiming, for example, to activate an additional subscription) with a small number of users of the beta program. Based on your feedback, the company will make its own decisions.
