Windows 12 makes appearance at official Microsoft event

Officially, Microsoft has yet to say anything about Windows 12, however, there are already several rumors about the future operating system. In fact, if the Redmond company redoubles its efforts to remain discreet about the project, it obviously cannot fail to talk a little about it.

And that’s exactly what the Windows Latest folks noticed, as Microsoft made a small, seemingly innocuous mention of Windows 12 during the Build 2023 event.

“The next generation of Windows”. Here is what attentive spectators were able to see during one of the event’s conferences. Of course, it could also be the next big update for Windows 11. But it looks like it’s actually a teaser for its successor (see below), if only because of the terms used. We recall, in particular, that the operating system was previously renamed “Valley’s next design prototype”.

This design, precisely, has already been dissected by experts. One of the big news should be the floating taskbar, something already tested in the first builds of Windows 11 before being abandoned. To do this, Windows 12 may allow the removal of system elements such as the clock and date.

Another big rumor announces that the company from Redmond is internally developing its own chip, which would therefore compete with the Apple M3. Finally, the next operating system should give prominence to artificial intelligence, with greater integration of Copilot, in line with Microsoft’s efforts in this area.

If the rumors are right, Windows 12 should be released in 2024, and in theory, its development has already started for some time.
