Alaska Airlines to Offer Free Starlink Wi-Fi by 2026
Alaska Airlines is joining the growing list of carriers offering free in-flight Wi-Fi through SpaceX’s Starlink network.
The airline confirmed the rollout on Wednesday, a move that follows Hawaiian Airlines — now part of Alaska’s parent company — which began installing Starlink earlier in 2024.
Alaska says passengers can expect connection speeds up to 500 Mbps starting in 2026, with the full fleet — including Alaska’s mainline, regional aircraft, and Hawaiian’s planes — equipped by 2027.
Starlink, powered by thousands of low-Earth orbit satellites, will be free on Alaska flights, replacing the current $8 fee on most routes.
The project is being backed by T-Mobile, which announced that members of Alaska’s new Atmos Rewards loyalty program (the merged replacement for Mileage Plan andairline wifi HawaiianMiles) will get seamless, ad-free access. Non-T-Mobile passengers will still get free Starlink but may need to watch ads before connecting.
T-Mobile customers won’t have to enter their number for each flight anymore — linking their subscription to Atmos Rewards will grant instant access. According to Alaska, travelers can still choose to credit their flight to another frequent flyer program if they prefer.
