Hackers Threaten Google: Demand Employee Firings Amid Salesforce Breach Fallout

A hacking collective known as Scattered LapSus Hunters has issued a bold ultimatum to Google, threatening to leak sensitive company data unless the tech giant fires two employees and halts certain security operations.
The group, believed to have ties with notorious hacker networks like Scattered Spider, LapSus, and ShinyHunters, is demanding the removal of Austin Larsen and Charles Carmakal, both key members of Google’s Threat Intelligence team. The hackers claim they will release private records if their demands are ignored, according to a Telegram post cited by Newsweek.
Salesforce Breach Sparks Security Concerns
The threat comes shortly after Google confirmed a Salesforce data breach that exposed business contact details but did not compromise Gmail passwords or private user data.
Hackers from ShinyHunters reportedly accessed Salesforce databases by impersonating IT support staff and using malware. Although personal Gmail accounts remain secure, attackers have used stolen business information to launch sophisticated phishing campaigns targeting millions of users.
Spike in Phishing and Vishing Attacks
Google says phishing attempts and vishing attacks (voice phishing) have surged since the Salesforce incident, now accounting for 37% of account hijacking attempts on its platforms.
Despite the rising threats, Google insists its core internal systems remain secure. However, the Scattered LapSus Hunters ultimatum has added pressure on the company as it works to safeguard its users and infrastructure.
