Britain Tops the List in Quality of Death and Dying Index 2021.

In the world, not only the quality of life, but also the quality of death matters. We all hope that after living a good life, our breath can also stop with ease, but while this is a reality for people living in high income countries, it is just a dream for people of low income countries. goes. Why this happens, the scientists have recently given the answer through the Quality of Death and Dying Index 2021.

This study has been done by researchers from Duke University of America. In this, 81 countries around the world have been given A, B, C, D, E, F grades on the basis of end-of-life care. While only 6 countries have earned an A grade in the report, 21 countries have got an F grade.

Which Countries are at the Top of the List?

The United Kingdom ranks first in this index. Apart from this, Ireland, Taiwan, Costa Rica, South Korea and Australia have also got A grade. According to the report, people living in these countries get good physical and mental care in their last days.

Which Countries performed the Worst?

Paraguay has been placed in the 81st place, that is, the people here are unable to take their last breaths in peace. Countries like Bangladesh, Lebanon, Haiti, Brazil, Senegal, Portugal, South Africa, Armenia, Argentina, Nepal, Sudan, Malaysia, Ethiopia and Iraq have also been placed in the F grade list.

America’s situation strange

In this index, China, Russia, Greece, Indonesia, Chile, Georgia, Vietnam and Mexico also got D grade. Surprisingly, America is ranked 43rd with a C grade. Along with America, countries like Colombia, Myanmar, Mexico, Thailand, Egypt, Ghana, Israel, Uganda, Denmark and Nigeria are also included in the C grade.

Most High Income Countries With Good Grades

Researcher Stephen Connor says that the inclusion of high-income countries in good grades is no coincidence. Governments here spend more on the health of citizens than other countries. The governments of countries whose grades are not good, there is a need to pay more attention to the health of the citizens. There are less than a third of the health facilities available here compared to high income countries.

Learn from America’s example – money is not everything

Connor and his fellow researcher Eric Finkelstein say that even though most A grade countries in this research have strong economies, money isn’t always everything. He cited the example of America and said that sometimes having money does not guarantee getting better care in the last days of life.

Finkelstein says that in the society in which you live, the kind of last-minute care also matters. According to him, this situation is not good in both developed and developing countries. People spend most of their money in living life, so it becomes their compulsion to spend the last moments of life in their chosen place and lack of treatment.
