Google Gemini Now Lets You Schedule AI Tasks

If you like the idea of waking up to a personalized AI update on your emails or calendar, Google’s Gemini app now makes that possible.
The latest update introduces Scheduled Actions, a feature that lets users plan tasks in advance. You can ask Gemini to carry out an action at a set time by typing your request into the prompt bar, or turn an existing prompt into a recurring task. These scheduled prompts can later be reviewed and managed through the Scheduled Actions section in the app’s settings.
According to Google, this functionality can be used for a variety of purposes—from getting updates on your favorite sports teams to setting reminders for one-time events, like receiving a recap of an awards show the day after it airs. Currently, Scheduled Actions is only accessible through a Google AI Pro subscription ($19.99/month), Gemini Ultra plan ($249.99/month), or select Google Workspace business or education accounts.
While Gemini’s scheduling tools are new, OpenAI’s ChatGPT introduced task scheduling back in January. That feature, however, is limited to Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers and doesn’t yet support Windows desktop users.
Still, Gemini’s most recent update brings stronger integration with Google services, offering access to data across Gmail, Chrome, Google Photos, and more. One PCMag editor even found it a bit unsettling when Gemini pulled insights from over 10 years of email history.
Google has also revealed plans to bring Gemini to more platforms—including smart TVs, in-car systems, and extended-reality devices. However, the experience may vary on platforms like Wear OS or Android Auto, where functionality is slightly limited.
