Google Home App Improvements: Faster Camera Access, and Wear OS Notifications

Google has announced new improvements for its Home application based on feedback from users during public testing. One of the new features is the ability for users to reorder their favorites for a custom home preview. This allows users to rearrange anything pinned to their Google Home Favorites tab. The new feature is rolling out to Public Preview users this week.

Another significant improvement is related to cameras. This feature has been made possible by the feedback from users of the Home app during testing, which began almost six months ago.

The new features are not limited to the Home app alone; they will also be available on Wear OS. For example, owners of Nest cameras and doorbells will start receiving notifications that include images on their Wear OS watches. This will enable them to quickly and easily find out what’s going on. The new feature will be available for all Nest cameras and doorbells released from 2021 onwards.

It is worth noting that to take advantage of these new features, users will need to use the new Home app and sign up for the preview program if they haven’t already. Google is pleased with the results of the Public Preview program and plans to release more new features in the coming weeks for all users.
