The PowerShell script, called SpeculationControl, helps users identify whether their system is affected by any of the 13 security vulnerabilities discovered in different versions of the operating system, including issues related to data cache loading, partial device register recording, and vulnerabilities related to MMIO inputs/outputs. Users can download and run the script from either the PowerShell Gallery or TechNet ScriptCenter website.
If the script returns a value of “true,” the system is considered protected from known vulnerabilities. However, if vulnerabilities are detected, users should manually download and install the KB4074629 patch or apply the update via Windows Update to safeguard their system.
