Nintendo cancels the Switch Pro project

There has long been talk of a supposed Switch Pro, a more powerful version of Nintendo’s console. Apparently, it could have really existed, but Nintendo would have decided to cancel this console. At least that’s what is being advanced by the people of Digital Foundry, after having obtained this information from several programmers.
Digital Foundry is known for its extensive testing of video games and has proven time and time again that it has well-placed industry sources. For example, Digital Foundry was the first to reveal that the original Switch would feature an Nvidia Tegra X1 chip, and it also confirmed before launch that the console would perform differently in handheld mode and in TV mode.
What is the reason for Switch Pro’s cancellation? Nintendo would be worried about having another situation like it had with the Gamecube or the Wii U. These consoles faced average sales figures (GameCube), even bad (Wii U) after hugely successful consoles. The GameCube had less sales than expected, so it was replaced by the Wii which is one of the most popular consoles of all time. The transition to the Wii U was then complicated, not least because there is a lot of confusion regarding the Wii. Sales were more than disappointing. And now the Switch is doing very well in terms of sales and does not want to risk a new model being a flop.
The Switch, which was launched in 2017, has already had two versions, namely the Switch Lite and the Switch OLED. But they are still the same consoles inside. The Switch Pro was announced to be more powerful, with in particular the ability to be able to play games in 4K.
