How do Astronauts Relax in the Space Station?
Astronauts spend their free time talking to their friends and family. Listening to music or playing an instrument is also his favourite work. There are also two libraries on the space station.
Admiring the Beautiful Blue Earth
The favourite way to relax on the space station is to gaze at the beautiful blue earth. The space station makes 16 revolutions of the earth in a day. During this, the astronauts can see the activities on Earth from the window of the space station. Storms, hurricanes, cyclones, northern lights, lightning, sunrise-sunset or maps of large countries and their changes can be seen from space from 450 km above.
Library on the Space Station
Astronauts talk to their Mission Control Centre colleagues on the space station. In his spare time, he talks to his family or friends. For this, their country’s space agency or NASA makes arrangements. Astronauts talk via email, internet phone, ham radio or video conference.
Before each mission, relatives, relatives and friends of astronauts send electronic photos, messages, video clips or readables for them. Whenever the cargo package goes from the earth to the space station, sweets, books, magazines, photos, letters are sent for them. There are two libraries on the space station, where there are books, CDs and DVDs.
Use of Social Media
An Internet facility has been present on the space station since 2010. Astronauts share their space experience with family, friends, institutions, schools through the Internet. The Internet link from the Mission Control Center in Houston is relayed directly to the space station. This happens for a very limited time in a day. It is used only for checking emails and posting on social media. Astronauts can use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit and SoundCloud on the space station.
Listening or Playing Music
Listening to music or playing an instrument outside the earth is also the favorite work of astronauts. Listening to music is easy for astronauts, but playing an instrument is extremely difficult due to low gravity. It is difficult to hold instruments in the space station or to manipulate the strings on the keyboard. Astronauts are able to play an instrument by hooking their feet from below. The space station has instruments like flute, keyboard, saxophone, acoustic guitar.
