Elon Musk is now officially the new owner of Twitter

As planned, Elon Musk today became the new owner of the social network Twitter. The richest man in the world made the takeover of the social network in a deal worth around $44 billion. Elon Musk also fired Twitter boss Parag Aggarwal and CFO Ned Segal and Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s legal and policy director, and Sean Edgett, the legal director.
The phrase “The Bird is Freed” will forever remain, which marks the new owner’s first Tweet, referring to the social network’s logo.
As you may know, Elon Musk had until today to complete the acquisition of the social network, otherwise a trial would take place next November. The operation dragged on since last April. The businessman sought to unilaterally withdraw from his offer in July, accusing the company of lying about various information, until the company’s board of directors appealed to the courts. Earlier this month, days before the filing of a lawsuit that Twitter looked set to win, Elon Musk finally proposed completing the transaction at the initially agreed price.
What happens now with the change of ownership? Elon Musk becomes the new head of Twitter, at least for now. It is unclear whether he will later entrust this task to someone else or whether he will retain this role in the long term.
For users, nothing changes right away. But Elon Musk has already warned about his intention to have what he presents as more freedom of expression on the social network. Yesterday, he published an open letter to advertisers to reassure them in this area, considering in passing that the traditional media published a lot of false information about him in relation to this acquisition.
