5 trends that will Impact the Network Market in 2023

Five trends that will impact the network market in 2023.

In addition to technological developments, it is interesting to note that next year will also be marked by the impact of important societal discussions such as those relating to the durability of computer systems or political instability.

In 2023, Sustainability will first become a top priority, especially in the EMEA region. The sector will treat sustainability as a key factor in how suppliers deliver their products and services, and how they operate. In addition, we will see a real rise in sustainability targets set by service providers and their suppliers, many of which are imposed by regulations. We also expect sustainability to become a deciding factor in tenders and customer proposals.

Political instability will also impact the cybersecurity of private companies and public bodies. State-sponsored hackers are likely to continue to ramp up their attacks to weaken the competitiveness of companies and government agencies they disagree with. While attacks associated with some countries are likely to continue into 2023, other nations could also conduct their operations “undercover” to gain or create political advantage. These breaches will continue at all levels through planned zero-day attacks from various nation-state actors.

2023 will be the year of the democratization of conversational interfaces and virtual assistants for network teams. While several virtual assistants have recently entered the market, vendors have been slow to adopt this technology. We therefore expect more to adopt it to simplify network operations while improving the end-user experience. We also expect these features to span the entire chain to provide visibility and automated operations from client to cloud.

At the same time, the Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) concept will become mainstream. In 2023, we expect a significant increase in the rate of adoption of the NaaS model. Its benefits can indeed be adapted to everyone, especially for OPEX, the increasing number of as-a-service products and network management by AI. It will also address cost, speed and efficiency needs to build and manage networks.

Finally, demand for 400G adoption will explode, and 800G will take shape. The 400G market is growing exponentially as the world digitally transforms. As traffic levels continue to grow, so will adoption, especially from cloud providers. Additionally, forward-looking network operators will prepare for the next shift in demand by choosing platforms that can support a smooth transition to 800G.

Apart from the continuous development of network technologies for many years, 2023 will constitute a real perpetuation of the tools deployed during the crisis.
