“Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is now the third most watched series ever on Netflix

Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story continues to set viewership records for Netflix. The series created by Ryan Murphy had its premiere on the streaming platform on September 21 and, at the 60-day mark, that is, on November 20, the series had already registered more than a billion hours of viewing.

Only two other titles in Netflix history have achieved this feat, and I’m talking about “Squid Game” and season 4 of “Stranger Things”. Both reached that milestone within the first month.

Netflix measures audiences for its all-time most popular shows and movies based on each project’s viewership during its first 28 days of availability, and “Squid Game” remains in first place with 1.65 billion hours of views, while season 4 of “Stranger Things” is the most popular title in English with 1.35 billion. “Dahmer” claimed third place overall after just three weeks of availability on Netflix, though it still hadn’t reached a billion. It first entered the TOP of most popular series with 491.1 million hours after just 12 days of streaming, then jumped to No. 2 the following week with 701.4 million hours.

The series, starring the brilliant Evan Peters as the serial killer, also remained at number one on Netflix’s weekly top 10 list for three weeks – the first title to beat it also came from Ryan Murphy: limited series “The Watcher” – and remained on the chart for seven weeks.  Although “Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” was originally planned as a miniseries, that is to say with an immediate end, in November Netflix renewed it for two more seasons. However, it will be an anthology, with each season following other monstrous figures who impacted society.
