Samsung Galaxy got stuck on old versions of Google Play

Some Samsung Galaxy seem to get stuck on old versions of Google Play January 2, 2023 Some Samsung Galaxy smartphones seem to have some issues with system updates from Google Play as they get stuck on an old version.

The South Korean manufacturer has updated practically its entire range of compatible products to Android 13, which for it is One UI 5.0, and sometimes releases security patches even before Google itself, but with regard to updates to the Google Play seems to be something that doesn’t work. For those who don’t know, Android smartphones are updated mainly in three ways: operating system updates, updates with security patches and Google Play system updates.

The latter are launched by Google itself for smartphones, tablets, Android TV and Google TV devices, Wear OS wearables, Chrome OS computers and much more. This Google Play is updated every month with improvements and fixes mainly “inside”, and are useful to maintain security and take advantage of the latest features designed by Google.

Although it is often “normal” for non-Google smartphones to lag behind with some Google Play system updates, it seems that some Samsung Galaxy models lag even further behind. According to various reports, some smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21 and Galaxy A53 5G are “stuck” with the July 2022 Google Play system updates, despite being updated to Android 13 and with the December 2022 security patch. Despite several attempts to look for updates in System Settings, nothing causes the system to update. The issue only seems to affect a few Samsung smartphones, but we doubt it’s normal to be so far behind.
