Internet Explorer starts disappearing from Windows 10 devices today

For some years we have been reading news related to the death of Internet Explorer, but this is mainly due to the fact that Microsoft is carrying out this process in stages. In the next step of this approach, which starts today, the Redmond tech giant will release a Microsoft Edge update that will permanently disable Internet Explorer (IE) on certain versions of Windows 10.
Microsoft had already announced that it would release this IE-destroying update in December 2022. While the company previously stated that this software bomb would be delivered via a Windows update, it later communicated that this would happen via a Microsoft Edge update. .
This Edge update will roll out to all devices – consumer and commercial – at the same time and there will be no possibility to revert this change. After that, Internet Explorer customers will see a banner titled “The future of Internet Explorer is in Microsoft Edge” and they will be redirected to Edge whenever they try to launch an IE-based application. Your browsing data will also be migrated seamlessly.
Organizations that have already migrated to IE mode on Chromium-based Microsoft Edge to handle legacy use cases will not be affected by this setting. However, companies that have not yet done so, despite the various warnings, are at risk of interrupting their business operations, as certain applications that still rely on IE will even stop working.
It’s important to note that while the redirect is in effect as of today, visual references to IE such as taskbar icons will continue to exist for the next few months. They will be removed by next June 13, 2023 via a Windows Security “B” version update. Users will also be able to get rid of them sooner by installing the optional “C” version, which will be released on May 23, 2023.
