Apple will cut FaceTime, Siri and iMessage access to older iPhones

According to what is being revealed on the social network Twitter, Apple will prevent devices with iOS 11.2.6, macOS 10.13.3, watchOS 4.2.3 and tvOS 11.2.6, or earlier versions, from using its main services. For brand customers, therefore, the time has come to buy a new iPhone, Mac or another Apple Watch if the device is a little old.

Whatever one may say, and for all its intrinsic qualities, the main attraction of the iPhone lies in the Apple ecosystem. By cutting off its access, the apple company is sending a subtle message to its customers who pride themselves on having managed to keep their obsolete iPhone 5 against all odds for so many years.

In fact, if the rumor is true, Apple is preparing to cut access to all its services, with the notable exception of iCloud. And the applications in question are:

  • App store
  • Crab
  • facetime
  • iMessage
  • Apple TV+
  • Apple Fitness+
  • Apple Music

The list of applications that have become essential for everyday Mac, iPhone, Apple TV or even Apple Watch users is very long.

The service cut should only take place during the next month of May. Of course, the company will send you a message in advance and tell you what to do. Users will also have to update their hardware, because remember, frequent updates not only serve to add functionality to their devices, but above all guarantee their security.

If your iPhone, computer or smartwatch cannot be updated, it’s time to buy a new Apple device if you cannot do without the services offered by the company or another brand.
