Altering the Color of Your iPhone 15: What You Need to Know

Apple has unveiled a curious phenomenon related to its latest iPhone models, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to a recent support document released by the tech giant, it appears that the color of these cutting-edge devices can be temporarily modified simply by handling them.

As reported by MacRumors, Apple’s support document acknowledges the issue, which had garnered attention on various social media platforms. The document states that fingerprints have the potential to cause a temporary alteration in the color of the titanium frame used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The good news is that Apple assures users that this discoloration is not permanent and can be easily rectified. To restore your iPhone’s original appearance, all you need to do is wipe off the fingerprints. Apple advises using a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth for this purpose.

Furthermore, in the same support document, Apple provides additional guidance on cleaning the exterior of your iPhone when accidents or mishaps occur. Users are encouraged to use a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe, a 75% ethyl alcohol wipe, or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to gently clean their phones. However, it’s important to note that Apple strongly discourages the use of cleaning products containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide, as well as any actions that may introduce moisture into the iPhone’s openings.

It’s not just the iPhone’s titanium frame that users should be aware of; Apple has also addressed concerns about its FineWoven material, a replacement for leather used in accessories such as cases and wallets. While the company acknowledges the issue, it’s important to remember that even leather is susceptible to damage when exposed to substances like salt water or avocado toast.

In summary, if you find your iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max changing color due to fingerprints, don’t worry—it’s a temporary effect that can be easily remedied with a gentle wipe-down. And when it comes to cleaning your device, follow Apple’s recommended guidelines to ensure its longevity and performance.
