Galaxy Fold starts receiving Quarterly Updates

Samsung has once again dabbled with the list of devices that will continue to receive updates, and there seem to have been several changes since the original Galaxy Fold, which was released in 2019, no longer receives monthly updates.

This means that the Galaxy Fold is now no longer receiving the usual monthly updates, and is now receiving an update every three months. But don’t get confused, as it’s only for equipment released in 2019, the latest versions continue to be updated monthly.

The South Korean company took advantage of the move to the list to add some new equipment, such as the Galaxy W23, W23 Flip and Galaxy A04e, as well as dropping support for some phones like the Galaxy J6+ and Galaxy A7, which were launched in 2018.

As part of that change, Samsung is also downgrading support for some of its first high-end foldable smartphones, with the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Fold 5G.

This change makes sense as far as Samsung is concerned because the Galaxy Fold is now over three years old. Likewise, the flagship of that year’s Galaxy S lineup, the Galaxy S10, switched to quarterly updates this past April.

But at the same time, the first Fold was an expensive phone, selling for $2,000 in 2019. It wouldn’t be unimaginable for Samsung customers to expect better support longevity from a phone they’ve invested so much in.
