Not only can you start a Google Meet call from any of these services, but you can also present a document in a video call. While you’re viewing a document, you’ll now see the Google Meet logo at the top, and when you click it, you’ll see a dropdown menu with options to start a Meet call. You’ll even see the calls your team has scheduled. (If the meeting is currently active, it will just say “Now” in a bubble for you to join.) You’re confused? Don’t worry. How to join a Google Meet call from a document
First, on your computer, open a file in Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. Then follow the steps below.
- In the top right, click Meet, then choose an option:
- To join a scheduled meeting, click the name of the meeting you want to join.
- To join a meeting with a meeting code, click Use a meeting code > enter a code.
- To embed the call in your document, spreadsheet, or presentation, click Join Call.
- On the right, a side panel shows the meeting.
- If you only clicked Join Meeting, your file is not presented.
- To present your document, click Share Screen > select the tab you’re on > Share.
- To stop your presentation, at the bottom right, click Stop Presentation.
How to start a Google Meet call from a document
First, on your computer, open a file in Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. Then follow the steps below.
- In the top right, click Meet.
- To start a new meeting, click Start a new meeting.
- On the right, a side panel shows your meeting.
- To invite people to your meeting, click Copy > share meeting link.
- To present your document, click Share Screen > select the tab you’re on > Share.
- To stop your presentation, at the bottom right, click Stop Presentation.
- To leave the video meeting, at the bottom right, click Leave Call.
- When will you be able to join Meet calls from a document?
Google has planned a rapid and a gradual rollout of this feature. Rapid deployment begins in mid-April 2022 and will last for two weeks. The phased rollout will begin on May 1 and last until May 15, 2022.
Who can join Meet calls from a document?
All Workspace customers and former G Suite users will be able to use the feature.
