How to Uninstall the Microsoft Store on Windows 10

The Microsoft Store is a pre-installed application that comes as part of the basic configuration of Windows 10. It enables easy installation and/or updating of the applications published there. However, if you only use desktop apps, you can remove the Microsoft Store. This is particularly useful if you want to prevent applications from being installed on shared computers.
The Microsoft Store primarily serves the administration of Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps, allowing you to add free and commercial apps to Windows with one tap, similar to Apple App Store or Google Play Store for Android. Traditional desktop applications can still be installed by manually downloading and running an installation program.
To uninstall Microsoft Store on Windows 10, open PowerShell as an administrator via the “Windows + X” shortcut menu. After that enter thisĀ following command in the PowerShell window: “Get-AppxPackage * windowsstore * | Remove-AppxPackage”. That’s all it takes to remove the Microsoft Store.
