iOS 16.3.1 expected to arrive this February

Few months ago, Apple made the stable version of iOS 16.3 available to everyone who has a compatible iPhone. It was quickly thought that Apple would start working on iOS 16.4, and that may even be true, but before the release of that operating system we should have iOS 16.3.1.
As it is being revealed, Apple is preparing iOS 16.3.1 minor update for all supported iPhones. It would be an update aimed at fixing present bugs, improving system stability and introducing new security patches. The news will arrive with iOS 16.4 (scheduled for the end of March), an update that should be quite substantial; on paper, the features announced by Apple but never released on its mobile operating system are many but it is not certain that they will actually arrive with the next update of iOS 16 features (some may even arrive with iOS 17 that will be presented at WWDC 2023 ).
Among the features mentioned are Apple Pay Later (funding purchases with Apple Pay), Apple Card savings accounts for Daily Cash (possibly US exclusive), web push notifications via Safari, and more. As a testament to the continued work on this new interim update, the folks at MacRumors bring the analytics logs from their own site; it seems that, this week, they received “visits” from users with an updated iPhone with iOS 16.3.1.
The same logs had already been identified in progress for other minor updates, specifically iOS 16.0.3 and iOS 16.1.1 among the latest, proving to be a reliable indicator for identifying upcoming intermediate versions of Apple’s software. The logs also identified passages of devices with iOS 16.4 and iOS 17, versions of operating systems still relegated to internal tests carried out directly by employees of the Cupertino giant.
In conclusion, it is possible to assume that the iOS 16.3.1 update could reach all compatible iPhones (from the iPhone 8 ) at some point during this month of February. The wait for iOS 16.4, however, continues.
