Microsoft launches the new Edge 110: Know what’s new
Microsoft has released a new version of its browser that arrives in the form of Edge 110. Besides the usual improvements inside, and all kinds of security fixes, the new version comes with new features. For many users one of its new functions, called Drop, will be the most useful.
As always, the release notes for the new Edge version are aimed primarily at enterprises. Microsoft lists some new policies. However, with Edge 110 also comes Drop, a practical feature for “normal” users. This function allows files, and screenshots, to be sent and received between mobile and desktop devices in a simple way. Important: Apparently Microsoft is gradually rolling out the drop function so that it will not be available to all users via the sidebar after updating to Edge 110.
But with a simple trick the resource can be activated, and used:
Make sure you have Edge 110 installed.
Click on this icon to call the drop function. Here you can send files by clicking the plus sign or by dragging and dropping, typing notes in the input field and sending them by clicking the send button.
As usual, the Edge update includes several security-related bug fixes. On the one hand, the new version contains the latest security updates from the Chromium project; on the other hand, Microsoft is also addressing two security gaps specific to Edge, which you can consult here.
How to upgrade to Microsoft Edge 110?
If you already have Microsoft Edge installed on your device, click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner, scroll to Help and Feedback, and click About Microsoft Edge. The browser will check for updates, and if there are, it updates automatically.
Note: Microsoft often rolls out updates in stages, so you may not see the Edge 110 update for the next few hours, or days.
