Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit coming soon on Nintendo Switch

An indie game programmer, musician and debut author, Niklas Hallin (Yono And The Celestial Elephants, Belladonna), joins Burning Planet duo Max Malmquist and Karl Rosqvist – both with extensive experience in punk rock/metal bands (such as Danzig, Junk Stars and Michael Monroe) to announce Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit.
“I’m a solo developer from Sweden. In 2017, I released Yono and the Celestial Elephants, a Zelda-inspired adventure about a young and naive elephant god. Now, it’s finally time for my next big game, Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit, and this time we’re utilizing the full 3D space!”, reveals Niklas Hallin.
Molly Medusa, a sculptor’s apprentice turned by a curse into a Medusa with hair made of serpents. Thus, all living beings that she approaches become stone statues. All living beings, enemies and friends, bosses and shop owners, monsters and allies, even animals and small insects, are all turned to stone.
Molly’s adventure takes her through a series of mystical temples as she struggles with loneliness and alienation. Within these temples, gravity is “local”. Molly’s “down” is calculated from the surface she currently has her feet on, meaning she can run up walls or upside down on ceilings. This allows the level design to spin around, winding through mazes that are physically impossible. Petrified enemies accompany puzzles of gravity and non-Euclidean architecture, in hunts worthy of M. C. Escher.
The game will be available in spring 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
