Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti Sells Out Instantly, Scalpers Drive Up Prices

The highly anticipated Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti launched today, only to sell out within minutes across major retailers. Similar to previous GPU releases like the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, overwhelming demand and limited supply left many frustrated buyers empty-handed.

Retailers such as Best Buy and Newegg began selling the RTX 5070 Ti shortly after 6 a.m. PST. However, despite acting quickly, shoppers found the listings marked “sold out” almost immediately. Even the higher-end models, priced $250 above the $749 base price, disappeared in seconds.

Scalpers Take Advantage

As expected, scalpers wasted no time listing the sought-after GPUs on eBay, with prices ranging from $1,400 to $1,600—nearly double the retail price. This trend mirrors previous Nvidia launches, where automated bots and resellers dominated the market, making it increasingly difficult for genuine buyers to secure a card.

A Glimmer of Hope: Newegg’s Raffle System

On a slightly positive note, Newegg is offering two RTX 5070 Ti models at MSRP ($749) through its Newegg Shuffle raffle system. This allows users to enter a draw before 12 p.m. PST, with randomly selected winners getting a fair chance to purchase the GPU without battling scalpers or bots.

While some may get lucky through this system, the majority will likely have to wait for future restocks or risk paying inflated prices on resale platforms. As demand for Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series remains sky-high, securing one of these GPUs at retail price is proving to be a major challenge.
