Picture-in-Picture is coming to WhatsApp for iPhone

Meta’s flagship messaging service, WhatsApp, is working on a Picture-in-Picture mode for iOS. This means that iPhone users will soon be able to keep a WhatsApp video call on their screen while browsing other apps.
It turns out that, at the moment, the WhatsApp app does not support the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature on iPhone, something that appeared in other apps in the iOS 14 release. PiP for WhatsApp on iOS is currently in testing beta. A full-scale deployment is expected to take place next year, with no further details to be revealed at the moment.
The announcement of the arrival of Picture-in-Picture for WhatsApp on the iPhone was made on the sidelines of a summary of several improvements made this year to calls. Recently, video calls with up to 32 people were allowed, as well as voice calls. WhatsApp also brings back the ability to mute certain people or send a message while still in the call, call links to easily invite people to join a group call. Design changes were made with waves of colors to identify a person talking even if the camera is off, notifications appear via banners when a person joins a group call, and as such, PiP on iOS will be the next step.
