PlayStation 5 now supports 1440p Resolution

PlayStation 5 receives new software update that arrives with good news

Sony Interactive Entertainment has today released a new software update for its latest console, the PlayStation 5. New in this new update is HDMI 1440p video output, game lists, some social features, and more.

All of these features have been in beta testing for some time now, and from the looks of it, the testing went well, and the update is now rolling out globally to all PlayStation 5s.

In addition, users can now compare 3D audio with stereo audio on the same screen and more easily access ongoing activities from game hubs.

However, the big news is the support for 1440p resolution, which as you can imagine, requires a monitor or TV that supports that resolution at 60, 90 or 120Hz. Also, the refresh rate may vary depending on the game being played. Furthermore, Sony claims that VRR, despite supporting 1080p and 4K resolutions, does not support 1440p resolution.

In addition, Sony informs that in addition to the updates for the console, it is also gradually releasing some new features for the PS App, which will reach all users later this month, both on Android and iOS.

All the news of this software update for PlayStation 5 can be checked here. The update in question is already being distributed to all consoles, and in all markets. However, some users receive it in the first few hours, and other users should only receive it in the next few hours or days.
