Samsung unveils latest Galaxy S24 series

Samsung unveils its latest Galaxy S24 series devices, showcasing comparable hardware changes to the previous Galaxy S23. However, the standout feature this year is the introduction of Galaxy AI, that would enhance user experiences with various features.

During the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung highlighted the AI-driven capabilities integrated into the new devices, ranging from live translation functions to diverse photo editing tools. Notably absent from the presentation, though, was an announcement regarding the potential transition of Galaxy AI to a paid service after a two-year free usage period. This information was given in a press release issued by Samsung’s Australian division.

The press release stated, “Galaxy AI features will be provided free of charge until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices,” hinting that a subscription fee might be introduced after this timeframe. While this assertion lacks explicit confirmation, it aligns with statements in other press releases from Samsung. For instance, the Spanish press release clarified, “Galaxy AI features will be available free of charge through Samsung Galaxy devices that support them until at least December 31, 2025. The availability of AI features provided by third parties may be subject to change and is contingent upon the terms and conditions of the service provider.”

As of now, it remains unclear whether all AI functionalities will transition to a paid model or if only specific features will be affected. Additionally, the consequences for users opting not to subscribe to the service for continued access are ambiguous. Samsung is expected to release more details in the coming days to address these uncertainties and ensure a smooth market debut for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, avoiding potential controversies surrounding the availability of one of its key innovations.
