Seventh Generation Garmin Fénix 7S, 7 and 7X
After the Venue 2 Plus presented a few days ago at the Consumer Electronics Show, Garmin is coming back to the fore with new connected watches dedicated to athletes: the Fénix 7S, 7 and 7X and the Garmin Epix. High-end models, equipped with GPS and even more advanced features.
Let’s start with the seventh generation Garmin Fénix. This is the most advanced model from the American brand which benefits for the first time from a touch screen which is also compatible with the Solar function, the solar energy charging technology which extends the autonomy of the watch. . The new Garmin Fénix still sports an imposing design with its four physical buttons. It relies on a robust design with the use of steel or titanium for the case and sapphire crystal for the glass on the most opulent versions. The three models available correspond to different case sizes: the Fénix 7S in 42 mm (1.2 inch screen), the Fénix 7 in 47 mm (1.3 inch screen) and the Fénix 7X (1.4 inch screen) in 51mm.
Already renowned for its autonomy as a marathon runner, the new Fénix pushes its limit even further with a maximum duration of use which can reach 37 days in connected watch mode and 135 hours with the GPS activated. Enough to consider long-term sports outings and intensive competitions without fear of battery failure.

In addition to the panoply of sensors already present in previous models (barometric altimeter, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, thermometer), the Fénix 7 released a pulse oximeter and a new version of the heart rate sensor which also works underwater. For runners who enjoy night training, the Garmin Fénix 7X incorporates a Led flashlight with a running mode that lights up white in front and red behind by adapting to the pace.
Tracking of sports activities and fitness is even more advanced, with more than 1,400 customizable exercises, the creation of specific profiles according to different indicators, HIIT training for crossfit, specific data for mountain biking, skiing hiking and cross-country skiing.
Innovative functions
Garmin is also introducing several new features aimed at athletes looking for ever more in-depth information on their fitness and performance. The Stamina function allows you to follow your level of endurance during a running or cycling activity in order to better manage your effort over time. Visual Race Predictor takes into account a person’s running history and overall fitness to provide race time estimates and training progress information. The Recovery Time feature estimates how long you need to rest taking into account training intensity, stress level, daily activity and sleep quality.
The connected watch part is less spectacular, with a set of classic features when the Fénix 7 is associated with a smartphone: display of notifications, Garmin Pay contactless payment, access to streaming music via Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music, possibility of send their real-time location to emergency contacts in the event of an accident during outdoor training. On the other hand, it is not possible to take and make a phone call, as is now the case with the new Garmin Venu 2 Plus.
The Garmin Fénix 7 is an ultra-complete and cutting-edge connected watch that is primarily aimed at athletes looking for a tool that is precise, detailed and durable. Qualities that come at a high price. The most affordable version (Fénix 7S and 7 Standard) starts at €699.99 while the first model with solar charging (Fénix 7X Solar) is €899.99.
