TAG Heuer’s New Connected Calibre E5 Smartwatch Finally Works With iPhones

A decade ago, TAG Heuer made waves by launching its first connected smartwatch, igniting the trend of luxury wearables. Now, the company’s newest model introduces a significant upgrade — it finally works seamlessly with iPhones.

In the past, TAG Heuer’s smartwatches relied on Android Wear and later Wear OS, which offered limited functionality for iPhone users. Some models couldn’t connect to Apple devices at all, narrowing the brand’s audience. The latest TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5, however, breaks from that tradition by running on the company’s own software platform for the first time.

Built on Android’s Open Source Project, the new TAG Heuer OS allows compatibility with phones running iOS 18 and later or Android 13 and above. While this shift expands its reach, it also means fewer third-party apps compared to earlier versions — users will depend more on built-in tools and native experiences.

The Calibre E5 comes in 40mm and 45mm sizes, with cases crafted from steel or titanium and multiple strap options for personalization. A special edition, created in collaboration with New Balance, targets runners seeking a premium design. This model sports a black titanium body paired with a blue strap featuring the New Balance logo near the lugs.

Display specs include a 1.2-inch 390×390 (326ppi) screen on the 40mm version and a 1.39-inch 454×454 (326ppi) display on the 45mm model. Battery life varies between models — around 1.5 days for the smaller version (charging in 90 minutes) and up to 3 days for the larger one (charging in about 30 minutes).

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 5100+ chip, both variants offer GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, along with features like call management, notification viewing, and music control.

As expected from TAG Heuer, the pricing reflects its luxury positioning. The 40mm model starts at $1,600 and goes up to $2,050, while the 45mm version ranges from $1,700 to $2,400.
