Threads: Users lose interest in Meta’s new Social Network

A few days ago Meta launched Threads, its new social network, and it quickly became successful as more than 100 million users used the platform in the first few days. However, the hype around it is starting to wane and usage is decreasing significantly.
Data from SimilarWeb and Sensor Tower show a drop in daily active users and time spent on Threads. Sensor Tower saw a drop of around 20% in daily active users on Tuesday and Wednesday compared to Saturday. Likewise, with a drop of 50%, the average time spent by users in the application, which dropped from 20 minutes to 10 minutes.
On the flip side, according to SimilarWeb data, the number of daily active users for Threads on Android phones worldwide experienced a decline of approximately 25% between July 7 (the day after the launch) and Monday.
The company informed CNBC that as of Monday, there were roughly 36.6 million active Android users. They stated, “Although the app initially garnered significant interest, not all users have developed the habit of frequently visiting Threads like they do with other social apps.”
Therefore, it remains intriguing to observe the forthcoming weeks and monitor the progress of Threads. It is important to note that Threads is still in its early stages, having been launched only a week ago. Additionally, the social network is not yet available in European Union countries. Presently, its usage remains relatively low.
