Unveiling the Parallels: Three iOS 17 Features Already Thriving on Android

Apple recently unveiled iOS 17 at WWDC, showcasing a range of software features that will enhance texting, calling, and the ambient display on iPhones. However, for avid Android users, the upcoming iPhone features may not be as groundbreaking as they seem. Here are three iOS 17 features that have already been available on Android devices, making the iOS envy a bit unnecessary.

  1. Live Voicemails: Live Voicemail in iOS 17 received much praise for its ability to transcribe incoming calls without the need to pick up the phone. However, Android users already have similar functionality. Google Pixel offers Call Screen, enabling call screening, real-time transcription, and text-to-speech responses. Samsung Galaxy devices have Bixby Text Call, providing similar features. Both options allow users to screen calls, transcribe messages, and seamlessly switch between voice and text communication.
  2. Auto-deleting Used Verification Codes: iOS 17 introduced “Clean Up Automatically,” a feature that automatically deletes multi-factor authentication codes after they have been used. Android users need not feel left out as they have a similar option. Within the Messages app, Android devices offer the ability to toggle on “Auto-delete OTPs after 24 hrs.” This feature automatically removes one-time passwords (OTPs) after 24 hours, preventing them from clogging up storage.
  3. StandBy Mode: StandBy Mode, showcased at WWDC, transforms locked and docked iPhones into smart displays, offering useful information like the time, weather, and smart home status. While Apple plays catch-up in this area, Android already provides similar functionality. Google Pixel devices, when placed on a Pixel Stand (2nd Gen), activate a Google Photos carousel, smart home controls, and more. Samsung Galaxy devices can display an always-on screen in landscape orientation, featuring clock styles, upcoming meetings, and a calendar.

Android’s early adoption and implementation ensure that users can enjoy similar functionalities without having to wait for the next iPhone release. So, before considering a switch, Android users can revel in the advantages they already possess.
