Windows 11 is about to get a taskbar optimized for Tablets
There are news that the in the latest preview version of Windows 11 Microsoft is reintroducing a taskbar designed for use on tablets.
We know that the distinction in the type of interface was eliminated with Windows 11 and there was no longer a real “tablet mode”, however in February of this year a new adapted taskbar was tested (in the Insider channel), which was later eliminated with the purpose of being optimized.
Microsoft then stated in a post that the taskbar is part of an update deployed to the developer channel and is only available on PCs that can be used as tablets, or as a 2-in-1, so not laptops or desktops.
How it works?
The taskbar itself is designed to be hidden when a user is not using it, allowing for more browsing space on the screen. With the new update, when compressed it will only show the basics like time and battery percentage.
When expanded, it will show much more information, and useful elements such as applications, widgets, the Start button and favorite shortcuts, favoring the use of touch when in use. The taskbar is designed to return to its optimal position when not in use, or simply when a keyboard is active.

But it’s not the only novelty that comes to Windows 11 and there are others that don’t just concern convertibles. For example, in the same update we have icons and animated illustrations in the drop-down menu dedicated to Settings. Finally, there are some known bug fixes.
All changes introduced by Insider Preview BuildĀ are available on the dedicated Microsoft blog page here.
