Pizzastenen.dk is an independent Danish guide to pizza stones and baking steel. It exists because most of what people believe about them turns out to be wrong. A hotter oven does not by itself give a better base. What decides the crust is how quickly the surface can hand over its heat, and this is where steel and stone part ways. A thicker stone is not automatically better. And an oven thermostat rarely tells the truth about the surface you are actually baking on. The site compares cordierite, ceramic, terracotta, lava stone and steel, and sets out what each one does to the base, how long it genuinely needs to preheat, and why stones crack. There are guides to baking on a kettle grill, to cleaning a stone without ruining it, and to the cases where the cheapest option is simply the correct one. We run no shop and carry no stock. The content is free, written in Danish, and funded by affiliate links that never decide what we recommend.
