SwiftKey bids farewell to iOS

Use SwiftKey on iPhone? we have bad news

The vast majority of Android device users have already heard of SwiftKey, one of the most popular keyboards for their devices. However, with the arrival of GBoard, a keyboard from Google, it has been losing popularity.

And for those who don’t know, SwiftKey is owned by Microsoft, as the company acquired the same in 2016, and shortly after, released that same keyboard for iOS, the iPhone operating system.

It turns out that the keyboard never had the expected success on the Apple company’s equipment, and this led Microsoft to abandon support for the same on iOS. Here’s what the company says:”We are ending support for Microsoft SwiftKey iOS. The app will be removed from the App Store on October 5, 2022, and your data from your existing account can be viewed at data.swiftkey.com.”

The Verge reports that SwiftKeys Director of Product Management Chris Wolfe stated that Microsoft will continue to support SwiftKey Android as well as the underlying technology that powers the Windows touch keyboard. Following this, Wolfe adds that those users who have SwiftKey installed on their iOS device will keep it working until it is manually installed or users get a new device as they may not be able to download it as it is not in the Apple’s App Store is available.
