Twitter: Employees take legal action after wave of Elon Musk layoffs

“To get Twitter on the right track, we will have to start a difficult process on Friday to reduce our workforce,” reads an email sent to the teams.

The social network also explains in the email that its offices will be temporarily closed and that access cards will be deactivated to “ensure the security of each employee, as well as Twitter systems and customer data”. Employees who retain their jobs will be notified by email sent to their professional email address, those who will be laid off will receive a message on their personal email address.

And as Bloomberg reveals, Twitter employees have filed a class-action lawsuit in San Francisco federal court against Elon Musk’s plan to lay off about half of the workforce, alleging that his employer violated federal laws and of California about the notice period before dismissal (60 days in this case).

These job cuts are coming after billionaire Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of the social network and the latter has demanded deep cost cuts and imposed an aggressive new corporate culture.
