WhatsApp latest feature will let users Block annoying Contacts

You may occasionally receive WhatsApp messages from strangers, and your first instinct is probably to ignore the message and block the person? If you answered yes, we have good news for you. Whether it’s a spam message or just a slightly annoying acquaintance, WhatsApp will soon release an update that will allow users to block their contacts even faster.

The folks at WABetaInfo discovered that Meta had added a new feature to the application in beta versions 2.23.2.4 and 2.23.2.4. More precisely, it’s a shortcut to block a person directly from the chat list, without having to open the chat in question.

In addition to being able to block contacts directly in your conversation history, WhatsApp is also developing another shortcut to block contacts, and this will be available directly in notifications.

When receiving a message from a stranger, WhatsApp will provide three options directly in the notification, as you can see in the image below, where you can choose: answer, block or silence.

This new “block” option directly in the notification will not appear if someone is already on your contact list, as this obviously reduces the possibility of spam and can lead to errors when users try to click “Reply”.

For now, the two novelties that facilitate access to a “block” button are only present in the latest beta version of the application. Therefore, it will likely be necessary to wait several weeks before reaching the stable release.
