Artificial Intelligence: Google schedules conference for next Wednesday

Google chose the next Wednesday, February 8th, to hold a conference that will deal with research and artificial intelligence. The event will be held in Paris and according to Google itself will last 40 minutes.

“Hear how we are reinventing the way people search, explore and interact with information, making it more natural and intuitive than ever to find what you need,” says Google in its invitation. You will be able to watch the conference on YouTube here.

In the phone call after the release of financial results for the fourth quarter of 2022, the company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, said that how the company is taking advantage of the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence is reflected in how it focuses its investments. “AI is the most fundamental technology we are working on today,” said the leader.

Sundar Pichai added that Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is in a “great position as AI reaches a tipping point” and that the company “has been preparing for this moment since the beginning of last year”.  This conference comes shortly after Microsoft announced a multi-billion dollar investment in ChatGPT creator OpenAI, which some say poses a credible threat to Google’s search dominance. Microsoft could somehow import ChatGPT into its Bing search engine.
