How to Deal with AMD Driver-Related Windows Crashes

AMD has issued a warning to users of its graphics cards, stating that updating the Radeon software could cause serious issues or prevent the installation of Windows. The company acknowledged several user complaints circulating on the internet about the problem. According to AMD, the issue arises when users update the driver while installing Windows updates, such as Moment 2. The “Factory Reset” option used during the update results in the boot driver inaccessible error, leading to the entire operating system crashing. AMD urges users to avoid using the “Factory Reset” option while updating Radeon software to avoid the problem.
Therefore, AMD recommends not using the factory reset option and ensuring that Windows Update is not working before installing a new driver.
We have reproduced an issue that may happen in an extremely small number of instances if a PC update occurs during the installation of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition and are actively investigating. We recommend that users ensure that all system updates are applied, or paused, before installing the driver and that the “Factory Reset” option is unchecked during the AMD driver installation process. We are committed to resolving issues as quickly as possible, and users are strongly encouraged to submit issues with the AMD: Adrenalin Edition software via the bug reporting tool.
AMD drivers can completely crash your Windows
As it turns out, Windows automatic recovery tools should fix the problem and get affected computers back to working order. Alternatively, users can try using a system restore point, and if none of that helps, reinstalling Windows 10 or 11 becomes their only option.
