Google One VPN is now much more accurate

Google is finalizing a new option for the VPN feature offered with Google One: more accurate location of IP addresses. And for those who don’t know, although Google One is available in some countries but  the VPN feature is not officially available yet.  This feature is designed to protect users from hackers and other online attacks by hiding your true IP address and thus making it impossible to determine your precise location via your device. For example, the VPN can locate a user somewhere in their home country rather than their home region.

Although the generalization of the IP address provides greater privacy, Google recognizes that this can cause difficulties for those who want to use location-based services, such as weather applications or navigation services such as Google Maps or Waze, which rely on a local IP to provide information. accurate. So instead of locating someone in Texas when they’re in New York, Google One will find them in a city near New York. This should allow users to protect their data while enjoying location-based services online.

Despite these changes, Google One will continue to offer the ability to maintain a general IP address for anyone who wants it. For this, a new configuration will be added in the application to enable the large IP address option. However, this change will cause a brief disconnection for users who activated their VPN before changing the settings.

Google One illustrates Google’s desire to improve the user experience by offering more flexibility and accuracy in using online services. By offering the option to maintain high privacy or access the most accurate location-based services, Google is adapting to the different expectations of its users. We can also reasonably think that it was a recurring request from subscribers that the search engine had to offer a response to.

On the other hand, it is still not about being able to select a country of origin for the VPN, which would allow you to enjoy content that is not accessible at home. This option will appear from July 29th.
