Barbie Overtakes Harry Potter, Achieves Pinnacle as Warner’s Highest-Grossing

Once a symbol synonymous with a gender-biased era and now reborn as an emblem of female empowerment, the iconic blonde Barbie doll continues to dominate the silver screen, leaving an indelible mark on the box office landscape.

While the official figures are still pending confirmation, as of Monday, August 28, a mere 2 million dollars set the Barbie film apart from another blockbuster Warner production, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, with both films clocking in at a staggering 1.34 billion dollars each.

Though the details are yet to be updated at the time of this writing, there remains no uncertainty that the on-screen portrayal of the Mattel icon, elegantly embodied by Margot Robbie, has surged ahead, etching its name as Warner’s most monumental triumph to date. A true breath of revitalization for Warner Bros.

Furthermore, it’s anticipated that Barbie will even surpass the financial feats of Black Panther (also at $1.34 billion) and the Super Mario Bros. The Movie ($1.36 billion), both of which stood out as colossal hits in 2023. In light of this meteoric rise, it appears only logical that Warner Bros. and Mattel will soon announce a second venture, particularly given the subtle indications by the American production company that it might expand the film’s global presence.
