Acer Dives Into AI Wearables With Language-Translating Earbuds and a Smart Health Ring

At this year’s Computex trade show, Acer is expanding its horizons beyond laptops and monitors by unveiling two innovative AI-driven wearable devices: a language-translating pair of earbuds and a smart ring focused on health tracking.
Acer AI TransBuds: Real-Time Language Translation
The AI TransBuds are designed to break down language barriers with real-time translation capabilities across 15 languages. What makes them stand out is their two-way voice translation feature—even if only one person is wearing the earbuds.
Though Acer hasn’t shared many technical specifics, the earbuds seem to be equipped with dual microphones that can pick up the voices of both the wearer and their conversation partner. The translated dialogue is then delivered directly through the earbuds, making communication smoother in situations like travel, meetings, and online learning.
Acer highlights the earbuds’ additional functionality as well: “They offer live captioning and transcription, so users can keep up with conversations as they happen and refer back to them later.”
However, to function fully, the TransBuds rely on a connection to a smartphone or tablet through a plug-in receiver. Acer has not specified which AI technology powers the translation engine.
Acer FreeSense Ring: Lightweight Wearable for Wellness Monitoring
The second device, the FreeSense Ring, enters the growing market of smart rings designed for health monitoring. Crafted from ultra-light titanium alloy, the ring can track a range of biometric data including:
-
Heart rate
-
Heart rate variability
-
Blood oxygen levels
-
Sleep quality
All data is accessible through a companion mobile app that also provides tailored health insights. Notably, Acer emphasizes that users won’t need a subscription to access their own wellness data—a feature that sets the FreeSense Ring apart from some competitors.
“Acer positions the FreeSense Ring as a daily health companion that’s both accessible and practical,” the company noted.
Acer Gear: A New Playground for Innovation
These two products are the latest creations from Acer Gear, a subsidiary tasked with pushing the brand into new and unexpected territory. Aside from wearables, Acer Gear is also exploring areas like electric bikes, scooters, and even tech-enabled luggage.
For now, Acer hasn’t announced pricing or launch dates for either the TransBuds or the FreeSense Ring. However, they’re expected to be showcased in full at Computex, which begins next week. Stay tuned for updates as the event unfolds.
