Apple Launches ‘Apple Intelligence’ AI Features at WWDC2024: Create Your Own Emojis and Send SMS via Satellite
Apple introduced new software and features at their annual WWDC event. The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC2024), Apple’s biggest event of the year, commenced on Monday, June 10, at 10:30 PM in Cupertino, California, and will run until June 14. Introduction of ‘Apple Intelligence’
Apple presented its new AI tool, ‘Apple Intelligence’, which will integrate with all apps across iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Notably, users will be able to utilize ChatGPT in Siri with the voice assistant feature.

Availability of Apple Intelligence:
By the end of this year, Apple Intelligence will be available on iPhone-15 Pro and later versions. iPad users with M1 and later chipsets can leverage AI features through Apple Intelligence.
ChatGPT Integration:
ChatGPT, based on GPT-40, will be integrated into Siri and other Apple apps, available for free on iPadOS 18, macOS 15, and iOS 18.
Image Editing and Custom Emojis:
Apple Intelligence introduces a clean-up tool for removing unwanted background objects from images. Users can create memory movies using simple text prompts.
Users can now create personalized emojis with the GenMoji feature and enjoy a new ‘Image Playground’ experience.
Enhanced Siri Capabilities:
Siri will gain on-screen awareness, allowing it to understand and interact with what’s happening on the user’s screen.
Siri’s conversational abilities will become more natural, relevant, and personalized, with options for users to switch between text and voice commands seamlessly.
Privacy and On-Device AI Models:
Apple emphasized that powerful AI features will run using Apple Silicon Powered Compute, ensuring user data remains private.
Many AI models will operate on-device using the M series and A17 Pro chipsets, confirming that these features won’t be available on iPhone-15 and lower models.
Safari Enhancements:
Safari now features a Highlights tab for streamlined searching and a Summary option for quick text overviews. A new Reader and Viewer mode will enhance reading and movie-watching experiences.
macOS 15 Video Calling Improvements:
The new Presenter Preview feature allows users to view their screen before sharing, preventing oversharing. Users can also hide unwanted background objects using a machine learning algorithm.
iPadOS 18 Features:
The Notes app now includes Smart Scripts, enabling handwritten note creation and text copy-pasting that appears in the user’s handwriting.
SharePlay updates allow iPad users to draw during FaceTime calls and control friends’ iPads with permission.
The Calculator app supports Apple Pencil, allowing users to take math notes.
watchOS 11 Updates:
Real-time translation is now available on Apple Watch, along with a customizable watch face.
The new Vitals app helps measure health metrics and performance.
Satellite SMS functionality is introduced for iPhone 14 and later models, enabling message sending without internet or cellular connectivity.
A Training mode lets users measure their training load and adjust daily targets.
