Bing Chat comes to Android and iOS

Two weeks after its launch, and that “only” is available on computers through Microsoft Edge, the new Bing that is powered by its chatbot (Bing Chat) now arrives on smartphones. The Artificial Intelligence technology is based on a large OpenAI language model optimized and customized for Bing search, all thanks to a Prometheus model from Microsoft.
On Android and iOS, you can still preview with their waitlist mechanism. The ad is for the Microsoft Edge browser on smartphones to access Bing with a Microsoft account login, as well as its application. For the latter, an icon will be offered at the bottom of the screen.
The features on the smartphone are the same as available on the web, but the mobile release is an opportunity to add search and voice commands for interaction. It’s a necessarily appreciable addition to smartphones. Will Cortana return? The choice was made by a female voice for the chatbot responses.
With its public release (in preview), the new chatbot can expect some factual errors, sometimes awkward discussions, and a tone that can become insulting. However, according to Microsoft, the feedback is positive.
Adjustments have already taken place, assuming that the longer the discussion sessions are, the more confusing the underlying model tends to become. After the first tweaks, Bing Chat was much more consensual in its responses, not hesitating to quickly end discussions. Adjustments continue and the stated aim is to reinstate longer sessions for discussions, working in a so-called responsible manner. Bing Chat is currently limited to 6 exchanges per conversation and a total of 60 discussions per day, which will soon increase to 100.
Microsoft will also test an option to choose the tone of a chat. This will guide you towards shorter, research-oriented responses, or longer, more creative responses. In addition to the deployment on mobile, Microsoft also takes the opportunity to announce the arrival of the new Bing on Skype, to get answers in a discussion group. Later it will be an integration into other apps like Teams.
