Bring Your Conversations to Life with Avatars on WhatsApp for iPhone

WhatsApp developers have recently released the new update for version 23.2.75 of their application for the iPhone operating system, iOS. With this update, Apple smartphone users will be able to create their own Avatar. The new WhatsApp update arrives via the App Store and, as mentioned, comes with version 23.2.75, offering all users the possibility of creating their own Avatar, a feature strongly desired by Meta and already implemented in other applications of the group, like Facebook. Until now, the feature was only available to the lucky (few) who tried out the previous versions of the application.

Here is the most important of the WhatsApp changelog (obtained from the App Store):

It is now possible to create personalized avatars and use them as stickers and profile pictures.

  • Go to Settings > Avatars to get started
  • Swipe left on the WhatsApp camera to record videos without pressing and holding.
  • Control who can see you when you’re online: Go to Settings > Privacy and select “Last seen and online”.
  • You can now share images, videos and documents in chats by dragging and dropping them from other applications (eg Safari, Photos, Files).
  • You can now undo the “Delete for me” action in a few seconds.

How to take advantage of this new feature?

The “Avatar” section has been implemented in the iOS WhatsApp settings (it is the first entry immediately below the profile details). After configuring it, the user will be able to send stickers in the chat that are part of a new pack of stickers generated directly by WhatsApp using the avatar itself. Also, the user can set his avatar as his profile picture.

To receive the new functionality, it is essential that users update the application to the latest version on their iPhones, and as always, through the App Store (here). Despite the last installed update, some users may still not find the functionality: in fact, the activation takes place gradually through the server.
