Google Unveils Ambitious AI Integration Plans for Google Workspace Products

Google has announced a new era for artificial intelligence (AI) as it aims to integrate the technology into its products. The search giant plans to introduce several AI-powered features into Google Workspace, including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail. The features will allow users to “think, correct, write and rewrite” complete texts in Google Docs, based on simple instructions dictated by the user, according to a publication signed by Johanna Voolich Wright, vice president of Google Workspace. Google also intends to use AI to “draft, respond, summarize and prioritize” Gmail emails based on user instructions. Additionally, the company plans to introduce the ability to use AI to produce images, sound, and video to illustrate presentations in Google Slides, in the same way as Microsoft Designer.

While Google’s announcement has been met with excitement from some quarters, industry experts remain skeptical about the company’s ability to keep up with the competition in the field of AI. Some believe the announcement is a way for Google to keep its users engaged and not switch to other providers. Microsoft has already integrated chatGPT into its search engine, Bing, and its browser, Edge, giving it an edge over Google.

Google says that the announced features will be made available to a group of “trusted testers” in the US from this month. This testing phase will help the company identify any issues and refine the features before they are rolled out more widely. Overall, Google’s move to integrate AI into its products is a clear indication that the technology is becoming increasingly important in the world.
